We continue to hear from our neighbors – Lopez and beyond! – that the intensity of the navigational beacon is more than what the community needs or desires, and only marginally reduced by the recent adjustment. At the same time, this is the minimum intensity airport beacon currently approved by the FAA, and the recent angle adjustment was the maximum allowable within their guidelines. Thanks to the strong and clear community feedback, the Commissioners are working with our aviation engineering consultants, the FAA, the beacon manufacturer, and other Ports to find an acceptable solution for the Island.
