Airport Beacon

The Port Commission has contacted their contractor to make adjustments to the airport beacon. According to the beacon manufacturer, these adjustments will lower the intensity of the light by 50%. The contractor is scheduling crews and equipment and hopes to complete the repairs in the next two weeks. The Port has been working with the FAA and our engineers to find a solution to this problem.

The Port Commission, working with its consultants, engineers and contractor have come up with a possible solution. By raising the angle of the beacon, it will lower the intensity of the light an direct the light away from homes. A similar solution was successful in Friday Harbor several years ago. We don’t know how quickly this can happen, but we hope it can be soon. We will post updates on the Port’s website and on Lopez Rocks.
